Forty-five student musicians will represent WVUSD in All-State ensembles this February in Fresno at the California All State Music Educator’s Conference. WVUSD Middle and high school musicians competed against thousands of their peers from across the state in December for a prestigious seat in one of the two middle school and four high school All-State Ensembles. These students have shown enormous dedication and discipline to becoming excellent at their chosen instrument and will have the opportunity to work with the best student musicians in California. “I am excited because of the experience I will have and how it will benefit my future career in music and just the opportunity to learn,” says Sunny Cai, 8th grade clarinetist from Chaparral Middle School. Students will work with renowned conductors over three days as they prepare for performances on February 17.
Yolanda Zheng, a Diamond Bar High sophomore and French horn player also looks forward to the experience “ I am looking forward to the opportunity to meet other outstanding musicians outside of my community and being able to perform alongside other like-minded students who love performing.”
