Superintendent's Message

I am extremely honored for the opportunity to serve in my 7th year as Superintendent and proud to be a part of the Walnut Valley Unified School District (WVUSD).

Thank you!  Thank you to all of the wonderful people within our school district and throughout our incredible community who helped to make this past school year a huge success.  Walnut Valley has a long-standing reputation as a premier school district – one of the state’s best.  In fact, WVUSD
was designated as a National Schools to Watch District in 2018 at a ceremony in Washington, D.C.; ranked as the #16 (up from #20 last year) overall Best School District in California (out of 1,100 school districts) and received an overall A+ rating by the Niche report; voted as the #18 Best Place to Teach in California; and awarded the title of 2019 Best Communities for Music Education (for the third consecutive year).  Finally, Walnut Valley was designated as an official Kindness Certified School District.  It truly was a great year!

I hope that you take a few moments to peruse our website and learn about the wonderful things happening on our campuses.  Furthermore, follow us on Facebook @wvusd, Instagram @WalnutValleyUSD, and Twitter @WVUSD_tweet to stay updated and informed.

Working closely with the Board of Trustees, we (our faculty, staff, and community) are focusing on five key goal areas:

  • Student Achievement
  • Strengthening Relationships
  • Fiscal Stability
  • Leadership Development
  • Safety and Wellness

The teaching and learning taking place across the District is remarkable.  Our students enjoy a 21st Century education that truly prepares them for the future and provides them with a plethora of unique opportunities.

Despite being one of the lowest funded districts in California based on the state’s newest funding structure, our District continues to advance the technology and resources available to our students.  We will continue to research and find ways to fulfill and grow our focus on STEAM Education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics).

I also am continually amazed by the extra-curricular programs and talents of our students and staff.  Whether in the area of the Arts, Athletics, or enrichment activities, our students enjoy high caliber programs and instruction.

Finally, I value the parental pride and community involvement in our schools.  I look forward to many more positive things to come in 2019/2020.
