Inter-District Transfer Permits

An Inter-District Transfer Permit allows for students to attend a school district outside of their district of residence. The Walnut Valley Unified School District (WVUSD) reviews both incoming and outgoing Inter-District Transfer Permit applications. Per California Education Code 46600, once an Inter-District Transfer Permit application has been approved by a district, the student does not have to reapply for an Inter-District transfer.The Inter-District Transfer form attached on this website is for residents of the Walnut Valley Unified School District requesting to attend a public school district other than their home district. For those that are requesting this transfer, please fill out form, sign, and bring it into our district office for review. The applicant must also provide a current driver’s license, California I.D., or other government issued identification demonstrating residency in our district. For those seeking enrollment in WVUSD who live outside our attendance area, you will need to apply for an Inter-District Transfer Permit with your district of residence.  The Walnut Valley Unified School District will be reviewing approved permit requests under the following timelines:

  •       For Current School Year Requests: a final decision will be provided to parents as soon as possible, but no later than 30 calendar days from the date of receipt of the request;
  •       For Future Year Requests: a final decision will be provided to parents as soon as possible, but no later than 14 calendar days following the beginning of the school year for which enrollment is sought.

Students approved for enrollment in WVUSD per an Inter-District Transfer Permit may have their Permit revoked for the following reasons: unsatisfactory attendance, continual disruptive behavior, or poor academic achievement.  Relevant Board Policy and Administrative Regulations regarding Inter-District Attendance Permits can be found on this website under the Board Policies link found in the “Our Board” tab (Board Policy 5117).
