Introduction / Philosophy and Goals

Welcome to the Walnut Valley Induction Consortium
The Walnut Valley Induction Consortium (WVIC) is a multi-district partnership comprising Walnut Valley Unified School District, East Whittier School District, Lowell Joint School District, Rowland Unified School District, South Whittier School District, and Whittier City School District. WVIC offers comprehensive induction support for both new teachers and administrators through its Teacher Induction Program and Clear Administrative Services Credential (CASC) Program. The vision of WVIC is to foster the development of lifelong, reflective practitioners who continually seek opportunities for growth through personalized, job-embedded learning experiences aligned with professional standards.
At the heart of WVIC's approach is a robust mentoring framework where experienced educators and administrators provide individualized guidance to candidates. Teachers work with trained Mentors to develop Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) aligned with the California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTPs), while administrators collaborate with qualified Coaches to create Individual Induction Plans (IIPs) based on the California Professional Standards for Education Leaders (CPSELs). Both programs utilize research-based cycles of inquiry that enable candidates to establish personalized goals, implement effective practices, analyze outcomes, and reflect on their professional growth, ensuring alignment with site and district objectives.
The WVIC program structure incorporates regular collaborative meetings, professional development opportunities, and a comprehensive assessment process that includes progress monitoring, observation feedback, and culminating presentations demonstrating mastery of professional standards. Under the leadership of the Program Director and with oversight from the Advisory Board, WVIC continuously evaluates and refines its programs through stakeholder feedback to ensure high-quality support that enables all candidates to create safe, inclusive, and equitable learning environments where all students and staff can succeed.
