Certificated Payroll - Frequently Asked Questions 
 

  1. When do I get paid?   

Certificated Payroll dates are on the 1st working day of the month (payment will be for prior month) and on the 5th or 10th of the month for extra duty/stipendsCoaching is paid at the end of season (5th or 10th of the month). 

  1. What’s the difference between Gross and Net Income? 

Gross income is the amount of money earned before any deductions and taxes have been applied. Net income is the amount of money employees get paid on their paychecks after deductions and taxes. 

  1. Who do I contact regarding benefits or a leave of absence?

  1. What are the deductions on my paycheck? 

You will have pre-tax (STRS, 403B, 457, Medical Insurance, etc.) and post-tax deductions (Union dues, childcare, bus passes, etc.) as well as the following state & federal taxes: 
            
- Medicare (1.45%)

- FWT – Federal withholding

- SWT – State withholding                  

  1. If payday falls on a holiday, when do I get paid? 

You will be paid the following workday.  All paycheck stubs will be sent to your work site.  

  1. If payday falls on a school break (Winter, Thanksgiving, & Spring), where do I pick up my paycheck? 

A memo will be sent to the sites with information about pickup location and times.  Be sure to check with your site admin for this information a week before the site closes for the break.  In general, paychecks are passed out between 9 - 11 am at the district office, make sure you bring your work ID or Driver’s License.   

  1. How can I get my paycheck as quickly as possible? 

Sign up for Direct Deposit, if you have a Schools First checking account, you could get your payment as early as up to 2 days before the pay date.  To sign up for Direct Deposit, fill out the Direct Deposit form located on our website under Business Services/Payroll, attach a voided check (bank can also provide a printout of account), and bring to the payroll office, along with your work ID or Driver’s License.   

  1. What if my monthly salary is incorrect on my paycheck?

  1. How can I change my address? 

Fill out the change of address form located on our website under Human Resources. 
Submit the form in person to the Human Resources department at the district office. 

  1. When are W2’s available? 

On January 31st, W2’s are mailed to your home address, please make sure that we have your current address on file.
