The vision of the Walnut Valley Teacher Induction Consortium is to foster the development of lifelong, reflective practitioners who continually seek opportunities for growth. With the support of qualified and trained mentors, candidates participate in research-based cycles of inquiry aligned with the California Standards for the Teaching Profession. New teachers create individualized goals that enable them to explore best practices focused on meeting the diverse learning needs of California students. Teachers are supported while establishing and providing a safe, inclusive, and equitable learning environment that will enable all students to succeed.

Teacher Induction Program Overview and Admittance Requirements

The Walnut Valley Induction Consortium offers a two-year, state-sponsored Teacher Induction Program designed to help preliminary credential holders earn a clear credential by demonstrating professional competency. Eligible Candidates must hold a preliminary teaching credential and be employed full-time. Participants are matched with a trained Mentor within 30 days of hire based on credential area, teaching assignment, and, when possible, school site. Throughout the program, Candidates engage in individualized, inquiry-based self-assessment and support activities aligned to the California Standards for the Teaching Profession. Mentors provide two years of guidance and support to help Candidates successfully complete program requirements.

The program guarantees continuity for enrolled Candidates through completion, even in the event of program closure, transfer, or withdrawal circumstances. Teachers outside consortium districts may enroll if space is available at their own expense. Experienced educators with at least three years of teaching experience may apply to become Mentors, with selections based on qualifications, credentials, and site needs. Candidates and Mentors also benefit from collaboration opportunities, optional professional development, and inquiry-based training delivered through Google Classroom.

Welcome from the Teacher Induction Program Director

Welcome to the Walnut Valley Teacher Induction Consortium.  We are dedicated to the support and growth of new administrators. Whether you are an Induction Candidate, Mentor, or District Administrator, you will find this website a valuable resource.  Our program provides a framework for effective leadership practice based on the California Standards for Educational Leadership (CPSELs). Each component of the Induction experience is based on research of effective leadership and adult learning practices.  However, the most important aspect of Induction is the collaborative relationship between the Induction Candidate and Mentor.

If there are questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me. Our program strives to continuously improve to best serve the needs of our stakeholders and participants.
