WALNUT, CA--The Board of Trustees approved Erin Ortiz as Program Specialist-Special Education during the September 19 meeting.

Ortiz has been a familiar face around Walnut Valley schools for the past 17 years.

She served as an education support specialist for the past two years and has been a special education teacher at C.J. Morris Elementary, Walnut Elementary, and Chaparral Middle School.

Ortiz was also a third-grade teacher at C.J. Morris Elementary for four years.

Prior to that, she was an elementary teacher at the Holy Name of Mary School in the Los Angeles Archdiocese.

“She possesses a unique combination of educational experience that will be a wonderful support to special education as well as general education teachers,” said Superintendent Dr. Robert Taylor.

Ortiz holds a bachelor of arts degree in liberal studies and master of arts degree in child/adolescent literacy from Loyola Marymount University.

“I am excited to have the opportunity to continue to serve students, families, and staff in the WVUSD community in a new capacity,” she said.
