New Leadership Roles for Two Walnut Valley Administrators

Jeanette Koh named Director of Educational Services, Trina Dreyer named Evergreen Principal

WALNUT, CA—The Walnut Valley USD Board of Trustees has approved the selection of veteran educators Jeanette Koh and Trina Dreyer in new key roles.

Quail Summit Elementary Principal Jeanette Koh was appointed Director in the Educational Services Division during the May 17 Board Meeting 

Jeanette brings a total of 25 years of combined experience to her new position as an administrative leader, staff developer, ELD specialist, teacher leader, and classroom teacher.

She served at Quail Summit’s helm for the past three years. Prior to that, she was assistant principal at Suzanne Middle School, Title 1 coordinator at Vejar Elementary, and teacher at Maple Hill Elementary.

Additionally, Jeanette has been instrumental in leading certified Project GLAD (Guided Language Acquisition Design) training across the K-12 District.

She is a prestigious National Board Certified Teacher and has developed curriculum for the Orange County Department of Education.

Jeanette will begin her new post on July 1, filling a vacancy created when Jeff Jordan was a named Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services last fall.

“I’m so excited to continue serving in Walnut Valley in a wider capacity supporting all students from our 15 schools,” she said.

“I look forward to working closely with all the principals and our Educational Services team to continue our District’s priority of putting kids first, to empower them to seize opportunities that come their way.”

Jeanette is a doctoral candidate in education at University of La Verne. She earned a master of arts degree from Claremont Graduate University and bachelor of arts degree from University of California, Los Angeles. 

She lives in Diamond Bar with her husband Chris, a WVUSD Technology Support Specialist, and their four children.

Trina Dreyer brings an extensive background with 21 years of educational experience to her new position as principal at Evergreen Elementary.

For the past three years, Trina has served as an Elementary Learning Specialist (ELS) and administrative designee at the Diamond Bar school.

Prior to that, she was an ELS and classroom teacher at Westhoff Elementary for 12 years.

Trina brings global experience in leadership, instructional methodology, and curriculum development to her new position.  

She has trained teachers to use technology with students, modeled lessons for Common Core, and implemented intervention programs for English Learners and struggling readers.

Additionally, Trina led professional development trainings for veteran teachers, bilingual aides, and beginning teachers in the BTSA program.

She also taught adult learners English as a Second Language (ESL) and worked with the Los Angeles Writing Project.

Trina succeeds Carolyn Wills who after a 39 year-career in Walnut Valley USD retires this month.

Trina holds a master of arts and bachelor of arts degrees from Azusa Pacific University.

She currently resides in Glendora and will officially begin duties on July 1.
