California’s New Accountability System: California School Dashboard

Based on the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF), which was passed in 2013, California is a releasing new accountability system that is based on multiple measures. This new system replaces the former Academic Performance Index (API).

These new measures will be used to determine district and school progress toward meeting the needs of their students. The measures are based on the following indicators:

· High school graduation rates
· College/career readiness
· Student test scores
· English learner (EL) progress
· Suspension rates
· Chronic absenteeism
· Basics (facilities, teachers, instructional materials)
· Parent engagement
· Implementation of Academic Standards
· Local Climate Survey

Performance on these multiple measures will be reported through the new California School Dashboard (Dashboard), coming March 2017.
