WVUSD Receives Safety Award

The Walnut Valley Unified School District (WVUSD) is dedicated to creating a culture of safety for students, staff, and the community.

As a result, the District was lauded for being one of the best performing school districts for a commitment to safety and risk management during the April 20 Board Meeting.

A special recognition, the “Risk Management Pays Award” was presented by the Alliance of Schools for Cooperative Insurance Programs (ASCIP).

“It is clear that WVUSD has shown that is it really ‘Best in Class’ when it comes to making our schools safe for students, staff, and the public,” said Steven Birgel, ASCIP senior director of litigation management and claims services.

The award commends exceptional effort in safety, training, and risk management.

Human Resources Specialist Kina Mattoon accepted the award on behalf of WVUSD, along with a $6,000 grant to pursue safety efforts.
