High School Math Adoption

The High School math teachers in Walnut Valley Unified School District have completed an extensive review of mathematics textbooks for Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2.   After a thorough examination and extended piloting period of California standards aligned/designed materials, the following books have been recommended for adoption:

Big Ideas Algebra 1 published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt

Big Ideas Geometry published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt

Big Ideas Algebra 2 published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt

The Big Ideas Math program, written by Ron Larson and Laurie Boswell, utilizes a research-based, balanced instructional approach that includes both discovery learning and direct instruction lessons.

Interested parents are welcome to stop by the District Office at 880 S. Lemon Avenue from Monday, April 4 through Friday, April 15 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to review the materials.

The recommendation will go before the Board of Trustees on April 20, 2016.
