Newsweek Announces 2013 Best High Schools
WALNUT, CA—Walnut Valley Unified School District high schools have been recognized as the best in the nation by Newsweek magazine.
Walnut ranked #162 and Diamond Bar ranked #283 in the report release on May 6.
The annual listing is determined after analyzing data from thousands of high schools to find the country’s best.
More than 5,000 high schools to participate in the survey this year and nearly 2,500 responded. All public high schools in the U.S. are eligible.
All the data analyzed was self-reported by each school for the 2011–12 school year.
Survey data is weighted and calculated using several criteria that have been proven to be the best indicators of college readiness including graduation rates, participation in college-level Advanced Placement (AP) classes and International Baccalaureate (IB) programs, and acceptance into a two- or four-year college program, according to the report released by Newsweek and The Daily Beast.
Also, this year, instead of considering the number of courses offered, Newsweek weighed the percentage of students enrolled in an AP, IB or Advance International Certificate of Education (AICE) course.
Congratulations to Diamond Bar and Walnut High!
