Walnut Elementary Students Read the Most from Coast to Coast
WALNUT, CA--Walnut Elementary students are reading in the halls and classrooms preparing to take part in “Read The Most From Coast To Coast” on March 2, to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ Birthday.
Students across the country will unite in the common goal to shatter the record of Accelerated Reader quizzes taken in one day. More than18,000 educators across America have signed up to take part in the event.
Accelerated Reader, a reading management software program for K12 schools, helps educators measure and improve reading comprehension levels.
“Students read a book at the appropriate level and then take a quiz on a computer,” said Debbie Palmer, Media Technician.
“The quizzes assess general comprehension of the book just reads. Accelerated Reader scores the quizzes, monitors results, generates reports, and provides a platform to manage individual reading practice.”
“Read The Most From Coast To Coast” enables students to take part in a shared reading adventure, and, at the same time, show the world they understand what they’ve read. All students who take part in this nationwide challenge will be eligible to receive a Certificate of National Participation.
The one-day record for Accelerated Reader Quiz-taking is well above 2 million quizzes.
On March 2, educators will be able to see the progress toward the national goal at

“We’re excited about the event,” said Principal Janet Green. “We expect to see many happy faces when the national AR quiz goal is shattered.”
