By Kelli Gile, Office of Community Resources

WALNUT, CA—Walnut Valley USD Board of Trustees celebrated an outstanding student and community partner from Vejar Elementary School during the September 20 meeting.

Fifth grader Meghna Jeswani received the Super Star Student Award.  Meghna is a star student in and out of the classroom. She exemplifies the Vejar Values through her kindness, active participation, respect for others, and helpfulness. She is a student who takes responsibility for her learning and challenges herself to her fullest potential. Last year, she was actively involved in the Principal’s Student Advisory and this year she is continuing to demonstrate her leadership and student voice through Vejar Student Leadership.

“Meghna’s positive examples of kindness, respect, and consideration radiates wherever she goes!” shared Principal Dr. Whitney Kosloski. “Meghna, thank you for being a leader at Vejar and a model student!”

Parent volunteer and Community Club member Rola Heng was lauded with the Partner in Education Award. A few years ago, Rola took on a leadership role bringing her joy and love to staff with gifts of coffee carts, supplies, and stocking up the refrigerator. Rola re-wrote the definition of staff appreciation! Rola frequently helps in classrooms by prepping materials and planning classroom events. She also helps plan schoolwide events, fundraisers, and memorable activities for Vejar staff. Rola has served the community and school in a variety of roles, including hospitality, event planning, and countless hours as a volunteer for various events.

“No matter the time, energy, or level or service required make an event a success, Rola is always positive, uplifting, and full of joy!” Dr. Kosloski shared.
