WALNUT, CA--Walnut Valley USD will host an official ribbon cutting ceremony for the new multipurpose and classroom building at Walnut Elementary School on May 17 at 3:00 p.m.

“Our Walnut Elementary students and staff are excited to celebrate the opening of this new building,” said Principal Robert Chang.

“We are very grateful for the support of the Walnut Valley community that made this possible!”

School modernization and construction projects are made possible through voter approval of Bond Measure WV passed in November 2016.

The new 7,500 square-foot structure will feature three 21st century learning classrooms (one transitional kindergarten (TK) and two 5th grade) and adjoining multipurpose room with open-concept ceilings, stage platform, storage and controls rooms, restrooms, LED lighting, and energy efficient HVAC systems.

The multipurpose room (MPR) replaces the original structure built in 1976 that the school outgrew decades ago.

The construction project began on December 20, 2021.

The Board of Trustees awarded the contract to New Dynasty Construction at the November 17, 2021 meeting.

The winning bid for the project designed by SGH Architects was $7,297.000.

Walnut Elementary School is located at 841 S. Glenwick Avenue in Walnut.
