Showing School Spirit
Quail Summit Assembly Honors Courageous Kids

DIAMOND BAR, CA—Quail Summit Elementary School students cheered as their peers were recognized as Student of the Month.  Over 500 students gathered in the multipurpose room on January 31, for the Spirit Assembly for kindergarten through fifth grades.

Each month, students from each class are selected for the recognition. Teachers nominate honorees for grades K-3; 4th and 5th graders nominate each other.

This month’s winners were chosen for exhibiting the characteristic of courage, in conjunction with the district-wide “No-Name Calling” campaign, said Principal Dr. Alysia Hobbs.

“We’re focusing on a policy of no-name calling, which we believe leads to bullying. Choosing to make good choices at all times takes courage. We are proud to show off our students that stand up for their friends and classmates when it isn’t always easy,” she said.

In Quail Summit tradition, the teachers lined up on the stage steps to congratulate each Student of the Month with a wall of “high fives”  As the names were announced by grade level, winners raced to up to the stage to celebrate among the school’s teachers.

Students in the audience showed their support and spirit by clapping to the song, “We Will Rock You”.

And by the smiles on their faces, the Students of the Month probably agreed that this moment in their young lives really “rocked!”
