DIAMOND BAR, CA--Walnut Elementary joined World Read Aloud Day 2023 on February 1 with fifth and first grade students reading aloud to each other.

The global event held in 173 countries celebrates the power, magic, and influence of reading and sharing stories.

“I tell my fifth graders they are the role models for the younger students. Reading aloud to a first grader gave the older students the opportunity to share a book and model reading fluency,” shared teacher Seema Bagai.

“When we get to read something amazing with another person, it builds our character and our community of caring!’ added first grade teacher Gloria Banuelos.
