DIAMOND BAR, CA--Walnut Valley USD will host an official ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Instrumental Music Building at Diamond Bar High School on Saturday, February 4.  The celebration will begin with food trucks and music from 12:00 p.m.- 12:45 p.m., ribbon cutting ceremony at 12:45 p.m., followed by open house, student performances, and tours.

“Thank you to our school community who came together and passed Measure WV, which enabled the construction of our new music building!” said Principal Dr. Reuben Jones.

“We are overwhelmed with appreciation for the planning, design, construction, and professional features of our new music building. Our students deserve only the best, and I am honored share that this building is the definition of excellence!”

The nearly $9.8 million construction of the instrumental music building was funded by voter approval of Bond Measure WV passed in 2016.

The towering 15,700 square-foot building features three strategically designed levels with a large elevator and interconnecting stairways.

The 4,320 square foot ground floor with 30-foot ceiling accommodates the 280 marching band students, with attached color guard and percussion rooms, and booster workroom.

The mid-level mezzanine is comprised of ensemble rooms, two recording studios, music department library, and teacher offices.

The upper level features a 3,631 square-foot orchestra classroom that converts to a recital hall, with adjacent rehearsal spaces for piano, harp, percussion, and individual practice.

“This state-of-the-art facility is designed to allow students to thrive in both a group setting and as individuals,” shared music directors Steve Acciani and Marie Santos.

“We truly believe because of the support and hard work of the Walnut Valley community, our students are going to maximize their potential, in a setting that fosters success and emotional health.”

The Board of Trustees awarded the contract of the project designed by HMC Architects to AWI Builders at the December 11, 2019 meeting.

Construction commenced on February 10, 2020 and was completed in December 2022.

Diamond Bar High School is located at 21400 Pathfinder Road in Diamond Bar.
