WALNUT, CA – A familiar face is returning to Walnut Valley USD!

The Board of Trustees appointed Dr. Matthew Brummett as the new principal at South Pointe Middle School during the December 14 meeting.

The 13-year educational veteran previously held positions as assistant principal at Diamond Bar High School and Suzanne Middle School.

During his decade of tenure at Diamond Bar High, Brummett also served as instructional dean, assistant summer school coordinator, social studies teacher, girls head varsity coach, SBAC coordinator, and WASC accreditation co-author.

For the past two and a half years, he has served as principal at Glendora High School.

Brummett’s purposeful and authentic leadership style is dedicated to empowering students to reach their greatest potential.

“I am honored to be joining South Pointe Middle School as the new principal,” he said. 

“South Pointe has a proven reputation for providing every student with a quality, well-rounded educational experience.  I am looking forward to working alongside our incredible staff, students, and community to build upon the strong foundation that is already in place.  This truly feels like I am coming home, and my family and I could not be more excited about this opportunity.”

Brummett holds a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from Azusa Pacific University with bachelor of arts and master of arts degrees from University of California, Irvine.

He is married to Diamond Bar High grade level coordinator Jenna Brummett and they have three daughters.
