Student Immunization Requirements Change for the 2011-2012 School Year

Starting July 1, 2011, a new law that changes California immunization requirements for all students entering 7th to 12th grades goes into effect.

The AB 354 Law requires that all students entering 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades will need proof of an adolescent whooping cough booster (called “TDAP”) before starting the 2011-2012 school year.

This includes current students, new students, and transfer students in both public and private schools.

Please, make an appointment with your health care provider now to get the required immunization.

Information regarding free or low cost vaccination clinics is available on the District website at www.wvusd.k12.ca.us.

Avoid the end of the year rush! The California department of public health has determined that any student who does not have proof of the TDAP booster, or a Personal Belief Exemption on file (which requires a doctor’s note), will not be allowed to start school until either a Proof of Immunization or a Note of Exemption, is given to the School Office.

As soon as you get your documentation, please turn it into your School Office for recording. Keep a copy of your documentation on file.

Thanks for the prompt attention you are giving to this serious matter.
