A New Tradition!

December 15, 2020

By Kelli Gile, Office of Community Resources

WALNUT, CA--Collegewood Elementary has a decades-long tradition of hosting a Sing-A-Round with holiday songs performed by every grade level.

The event always concludes with hundreds of students and staff joining hands to sing “Let There Be Peace On Earth.”

This year, to continue the beloved ritual during Distance Learning and to reach a hearing-impaired parent, 25 teachers and staff members learned the song in sign language.

The online students will be watching the special performance before Winter Break dismissal on December 16.

The Collegewood students also regularly demonstrate compassion and love for each other by saying “Peace on Earth” after the daily flag salute, shared Principal Dr. Mary Wendland.

“This beautiful tradition captures the heart of our community!”
