WVUSD Social Emotional Learning (SEL) detectives use clues and strategies to solve the curious mystery of the missing Superintendent Dr. Taylor (not really!) during today’s meeting. The educators from all around the District used Kelli Gile’s “Adventure Awaits” back-to-school press release at https://bit.ly/2ZeZK2V, social media posts, and their keen social emotional skills to unlock the mystery.
Possible suspects and last known Locations included: Ryan Maine (Walnut High School) principal sets sail on the first day of school. Fayroze Mostafa (C.J. Morris) principal was seen greeting students with hugs and high-fives under a towering red and white balloon arch. Amy Smith (Suzanne Middle School) principal excited about solar panel installation. Lisa Peterson (Maple Hill) 3rdgrade teacher gathered students around the campfire singing the school’s theme song. Rueben Jones (Diamond Bar High School) principal hosted an “Out of This World” opening day rally with performances, games and competitions. Taylor Harb (Chaparral Middle School) orchestra teacher welcomed young musicians at the door. Kary Penzes (Westhoff Elementary) 5thgrade teacher reminded students to choose their words wisely. “Words are like toothpaste…once hurtful words come out, it’s hard to put them back!” Whitney Prenger (Vejar Elementary) principal gave walking tours around campus to review the Vejar Values behavior expectations: “Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible”.
The mystery was solved when he was found at Quail Summit Elementary taking first day of school photos with Principal Frances Weissenberger. Dr. Taylor then joined the meeting and congratulated the group for their important SEL work around Walnut Valley and for solving the very “Curious” mystery!
“Today, our SEL Agents detected social and emotional learning strategies happening district-wide and solved the “Curious Case” of Superintendent Dr. Taylor’s disappearance using SEL clues and technology. Case Closed!” said School Counselor Erica Robledo.#BeCurious #WalnutWell
