Intra-District Transfer Requests

Intra-District Transfer Requests

Who Can Apply: The parents/guardians of any student who attends Walnut Valley may apply to enroll their child in any school within our district, regardless of the location of residence within the district.

  • Intra-District Transfer forms may be submitted after school year assignments have been decided, which occurs on February 1, or if you wish to request a transfer from your child’s assigned school.

Step 2: Submit the Form
  • Elementary School Students: Submit the completed form directly to your child’s current school site.
  • Middle and High School Students: Submit the completed form directly to Student Services, Attn: Gloria Diaz, by March 1.

Step 3: Review Process
  • Elementary Transfers: Elementary schools will review requests in April as they process overflow and residency enrollment.

  • Middle and High School Transfers: Secondary Site Administrators will review requests in mid March in consultation with the Director of Student Services.

Step 4: Notification of Decision
  • Elementary: The Elementary Site will send a copy of the approved or denied request to the parent/guardian, the home school, and the requested school by May 1.

  • Middle and High School: Notifications are sent by March 31 to the parent/guardian, the home school, and the requested school.

Step 5: Late Requests
  • Requests submitted after March 1 must be submitted to the site where your child is currently assigned. Both the home school and the requested school will review the request jointly.
  • Intra-district transfer applications submitted during the summer will be processed by the school site when they return to the office at the end of July.

Important to Know
  • No yearly renewal. Once approved, the transfer remains in place for the rest of the student’s time at that school level (elementary, middle, or high school).
  • Revocation: A transfer may be revoked for any of the following reasons as defined by district policy: unsatisfactory attendance, scholarship, citizenship, or other conditions outlined in district guidelines.
  • Transportation: Parents/guardians agree to provide transportation for their student from their area of residence to attend the requested school.
